Mexico (Mexico City)
Day 1 Mexico City
Arrival at the México City international airport and transfer to the hotel Fiesta Americana Reforma or similar. Overnight.
Day 2 México City
Entire day dedicated to the visit of this city and the archeological site of Teotihuacan. Included are the visit of the “Zocalo” (the main square with the Cathedral and the National Palace), of the Templo Mayor, the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the most important centre of pilgrimage of the entire Latin America. Later we will visit Teotihuacan with its imponent Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Lunch in a local restaurant. We will return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 3 México City-Puebla-Oaxaca
Departure by pirvate bus to Puebla and upon arrival visit of this beautiful colonial city, famous for its churches in baroc style and the local ceramics. Lunch in a local restaurant. Continue to Oaxaca. Overnight at thehotel Casa Conzatti or similar.
Day 4 Oaxaca
Full day dedicated to the visit of the surroundings of the city, starting with Mitla, an old Mixtec centre, with a stop on the way to see the “Tule”, an amazing tree considered the oldest in the world. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon proceed to Monte Alban, religious capital of the Zapotecan people. Built upon a hill, this place is rich with pyramids, tumbs, set in a beautiful panoramic location. Return back to Oaxaca in the afternoon and overnight.
Day 5 Oaxaca-Tuxtla Gutierrez
Morning departure to Tuxtla Gutierrez, capital of the Chiapas State. If time and wheater allows it, a stop in Chiapa de Corzo is included to visit the impressing Canyon of Sumidero by the river, on board of local boats. Lunch in a local restaurant. Overnight in Tuxtla Gutierrez or Chiapa de Corzo.
Day 6 Tuxtla Gutierrez-San Cristóbal de las Casas
Transfer to San Cristóbal de las Casas, going up on the mountains above 2,000 meters. Before arrival we will visit the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula & Zinacantan, located few kilometers from San Cristóbal. It is also included a short city tour, with the local market, where it is possible to admire the artcrafts abilities of the local indigenous, and the famous local churches, among which the most important is Santo Domingo.
Day 7 San Cristóbal de las Casas-Palenque
Today we will descend from the Chiapas mountains, driving through the greenest valleys. A stop is programmed to admire the Agua Azul waterfallas and for lunch. Arrival in Palenque and overnight at the hotel Plaza or similar.
Day 8 Palenque-Campeche
The entire morning will be dedicated to the visit of the archeological site of Palenque, still partly hidden in the tropical jungle, fascinating and rich of unique Pyramids. Lunch in a local restaurant and departure to Campeche. Upon arrival visit of the old city, still surrounded by ancient walls and towers, that still preserves a strong colonial flavour. Accommodation at the hotel Del Mar or similar.
Day 9 Campeche-Merida
Today our first stop will be to visit the site of Uxmal, one of the most important places for the mayan culture. Lunch in a local restaurant. Arrival in Merida in the afternoon, the capital of the Yucatán State, the “white city”, so called for its colonial buildings. There will be a stop in the “zocalo” (main square) to visit the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Townhall and the House of Montejo. Overnight at the hotel El Castellano or similar.
Day 10 Merida-Cancun
Departure to Cancún with a stop on the way to visit Chichen Itza, probably the most famous between the mayan archeological sites, with its famous Pyrámid of Kukulkan. Lunch in a local restaurant. Arrival in Cancún in late afternoon and accommodation at the hotel Hyatt Regency or similar.
Day 11 Cancún
Transfer to the airport and end of services.
