Indigenous Communities: Chamula & Zinacantan

Transportation will take you to the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán, where you will learn about the customs of its inhabitants, as well as their clothing, rituals and traditions, which they have preserved since pre-Hispanic times.
 
In the church of San Juan Chamula you will be able to observe the healing rituals and prayers in Tzotzil, the mother tongue of these communities. At the end, the tour continues in the indigenous town of Zinacantán. There you will visit a house of weaving artisans, who will show you the process of making their textiles and waist looms. You will also have the opportunity to try delicious handmade tortillas with wood fire in a traditional indigenous kitchen. Afterwards, you will return to San Cristóbal. If your starting point was Tuxtla Gutiérrez, then you will have free time for a meal (not included) and for a walk through the historic center.
