After early morning pickup at your Palenque hotel, you will head to the ancient Mayan archaeological site of Bonampak, first seen in 1946 by a group not belonging to the Mayans. Upon arrival, enjoy 2 hours to explore the site and observe its famous sites.
Enjoy a buffet-style breakfast along the way and delve into the lush Lacandon jungle. The jungle was declared a natural monument on August 21, 1992 and occupies an area of 4,357 hectares. It is still inhabited by the Lacandones, a Mayan people. Discover refreshing streams and marvel at the endemic flora and fauna of the dense landscape.
When you leave Bonampak, you will make a 30-minute drive to the border town of Frontera Corozal. Next, enjoy a 1-hour boat trip to the hidden ruins of Yaxchilán, also known as "The city of green stones". Once one of the most powerful Mayan states along the Usumacinta River, this place is known for its decorative murals and the ruins of "El Laberinto", a temple with rooms spread over 3 levels and linked by internal stairs.
Explore the complex for 2 hours and discover some of the mysteries of palaces, temples and public squares. Then you will return to your hotel in Palenque to finish the tour.
