Day 1 Mexico City
Arrival at the airport in Mexico City and transfer to the hotel Metropol or similar. Pernottamento.
Day 2 Mexico City
Entire day dedicated to the visit of this city and the archeological site of Teotihuacan. Included are the visit of the “Zocalo” (the main square with the Cathedral and the National Palace), of the Templo Mayor, the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the most important centre of pilgrimage of the entire Latin America. Later we will visit Teotihuacan with its imponent Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Lunch in a local restaurant. We will return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 3 Mexico City-Villahermosa-Palenque
After breakfast transfer to the airport and departure to Villahermosa, capital of the Tabasco State. Upon arrival transfer to Palenque and visit of the archeological zone. Overnight at the hotel Plaza or similar.
Day 4 Palenque-Yaxchilan-Flores
Early morning departure to the village of Corozal, located close to the Mexican border with Guatemala, crossing a beautiful forest. Upon arrival we will board small boats to sail along the river Usumacinta for about 1 hour to reach the ancient Maya city located at the outskirts of the forest: Yaxchilan, a place where silence is only broken by the creams of the monkeys of birds. The visit of this wonderful and facinating city will last about 2 hours, then we will sail back to Corozal where lunch will be served. After lunch the Mexican guide will present you the guatemaltecan guide and you will cross the border. By bus travel to Flores. Late arrival in Flores and overnight at hotel Casona del Lago or similar.
Day 5 Flores-Tikal-Guatemala
Visit the archeological zone of Tikal, considered the most spectacular Mayan Site. The incredible number of Pyramids and steles show us how this city was the most important in the Mayan world during the VIII Century. The Pyramids are above 70 meters high, and some were built over 200 years b.C.. At the end of the visit transfer to the airport and fly to Guatemala City. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel Radisson or similar.
Day 6 Guatemala-Chichicastenango-Atitlan
Departure for Chichicastenango, visit of the church of Santo Tomas and the local market. In the market at Chichicastenango the mayan and spanish traditions are mixed; every Thursday and Sunday (market days) the small town becomes very criwded. You can admire and buy avery sort of artcrafts, fabrics, ceramics.
In the church of Santo Tomas, located in the main square, you can see the local indians pray for thier gods and saints, it is a fascinating mixture of prehispanic and christian cults. Lunch. Departure towards the Atitlan Lake, one of the most beautiful in the world, dominated by three vulcans and where you can see, along the rivers, different communities belonging to various etnic groups. Arrival in Panajachel, main town along the rivers of this lake, and overnight at hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo or similar.
Day 7 giorno Atitlan-Antigua
Morning tour of the lake by boat, with a stop to visit San Antonio Palopo'. Departure to Antigua. Accommodation at the hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo or similar.
Day 8 Antigua-Guatemala City
Visit of the city, a real colonial monument of the Americas and capital of Guatemala until 1773; the city offer jewels of spanish architecture like the Palace of the General Captains and the Townhall. You will also visit Las Armas square and the Palace of the Government, ruins of different convents and churches like the Merced. Back to Guatemala City. Accommoation at the hotel Radisson or similar.
Transfer to the airport and departure to the next destination.
